The fourth and final round of the KTM-sponsored South Island Enduro series saw riders make the journey to Berwick Forest, near Mosgiel, for a brilliant day’s racing.

Despite some torrential showers of rain falling during the night, things looked promising as the riders awoke the next morning to a fine day.

The track consisted of a mixture of pine forest and high country trails which proved a popular combination with riders. It seemed the previous night’s rain had no affect on track conditions, a far cry from last year’s one-off event which saw riders battling their way through snow.

The Mosgiel District Motorcycle club did a fantastic job of running the event, putting on a good track which proved rideable and enjoyable for everyone involved.

With Jol Hennessey holding a six-point lead over Jason Duff, and Chris Mexted sitting three points behind Duff in third, it was the riders’ last chance to make their move and claim the outright series win.

After a hard day in the saddle, it was Hennessey (pictured above) who held onto the lead, claiming the inaugural KTM South Island Enduro Series outright honours with Duff and Mexted following closely behind in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

After Four rounds of some of the best riding the south island has to offer, which everyone involved thoroughly enjoyed.

Riders can look forward to next year’s bigger and better six-round series and expanding the horizons of enduro in the south island.

Thanks to KTM New Zealand for sponsoring the series and the organisers hope to have their continuing support next year. Also, a big thanks goes out to all of the motorcycle clubs who put hours of hard graft into making four awesome events.
