Even with just one race so far for each class, this season’s New Zealand Junior Motocross Championships have already posed more questions than answers.

Can Hamish Harwood (pictured above) bounce back from injury to carry on his winning ways this weekend?

Harwood mounted a thrilling come-from-behind charge to catch and pass 14-16 years’ 250cc four-stroke class race leader Haki Waller today, but then he promptly crashed and had Waller run into him and both riders went down.

Of the two, Harwood was the first to get going again and he crossed the line in front to win the first of five 250cc class races for the weekend.

But the joy of winning was a little muted as Harwood was taken to hospital to have stitches inserted into his gashed thigh.

Australian visitor Jesse Dobson was a runaway winner in the 12-14 years’ 125cc class and the question there is can anyone match him?

Other race winners today were Micah McGoldrick (15-16 years’ 125cc class); Courtney Duncan (13-16 years’ 85cc class); Josiah Natzke (11-12 years’ 85cc class); Josh Holmes (9-16 years’ 150cc) and Maximus Purvis (8-10 years’ 85cc class).

Each class has two more races tomorrow (Saturday) with a final two races per class on Sunday.
