Here is an absolute treasure … old film coverage of motocross in New Zealand back in the 1960s, courtesy McLaren Archives and compiled by Alan McLaren.
It’s Labour Weekend in 1967, the selection meeting for the North Versus South Series that would happen in March the following year.
The racing is being held at the Hurricane Course near Whanganui.
This sort of footage is invaluable in terms of it recording the level and intensity of competition in those days, when motocross was really still in its infancy in this part of the world, but already there were several Kiwi campaigners who were starting to stretch their legs overseas.
