Anaheim 1 in the record books

Mistakes were made left and right, but Justin Barcia once again showed how good he is under pressure, winning round one of the 2020 United States Supercross Championship from Adam Cianciarulo and Cooper Webb.

Webb was under the weather, riding with a heavy head cold, and Eli Tomac again struggled in the high pressure of A1.

When the 450 main started, it was Vince Friese led from Barcia, with Justin Hill third, and Justin Brayton also up there. Cianciarulo was running top five and charging hard. Barcia quickly into the lead and Cianciarulo was all over Freise and Brayton. Tomac was miles back and Germany’s Ken Roczen moved into the top five with a nice charge.

Cianciarulo passed Freise for third as it was Barcia from Brayton. Roczen was all over Cianciarulo, and Barcia was more than two seconds ahead of everyone else. Tomac was back in ninth, nearly 10 seconds behind Barcia.

Cianciarulo was the fastest man in the race and passed Brayton, as the Kawasaki rider started catching Barcia for the lead. Reed was back in 22nd place and hoping for something a little better. Webb was in fourth and working hard with the flu.

Barcia made a mistake and handed the lead to Cianciarulo, and two seconds the gap between the two. The 450 rookie was leading and the crowd were going nuts for the youngster. Roczen and Webb were in a good battle, and Brayton was just ahead of the two.

The lead by Cianciarulo was nearly three seconds, but Barcia started making good progress as Brayton was eight seconds behind the leader. Tomac was up to 8th place, and Jason Anderson was just ahead of him.

Webb moved into third place and Roczen was all over Brayton. Cianciarulo made a mistake nearly crashed and Barcia caught and passed for the lead. From here on it, it was all Barcia. Roczen moved into fourth and then Blake Baggett and Jason Anderson passed Brayton, who went down.

Anderson put pressure on Roczen and made the pass for fifth position. Roczen struggling a little and questions if he is still having problems with his fitness?

Barcia eventually won it, adding A1 2020 to A1 2019.

In the 250 main it was Justin Cooper who won from Frenchman Dylan Ferrandis and Austin Forkner, although Forkner was docked for cutting a corner and third was handed to Christian Craig.
