WINDING BACK TIME
We here at BikesportNZ.com take literally thousands of photos at the dozens of events we travel to, but, the shame is, most never see the light of day.
So we have decided to trawl through our archives and dig out some of those shots that either have never been seen before or simply that rate among our favourites and deserve a second viewing … we are calling it our “weekend wind-back”.
Our aim is not to embarrass anyone, but we are sure you’ll all appreciate seeing these old snaps.
Among the riders featured here include Kawasaki New Zealand CEO Mike Wilkins snaring the holeshot at the 2007 Tarawera 100, and, what’s more, he is doing it on a Kawasaki KDX200; multi-time New Zealand motocross and supercross champion and 1996 500cc motocross world champion Shayne King; cross-country ace Mark Penny; multi-time New Zealand motocross and supercross champion and two-time former world 500cc No.2 Darryll King; a young Brad Groombridge when he used to race for Kawasaki; Motueka’s Josh Coppins when he raced for the CAS Honda GP team in 2006, but pictured here at the Motocross of Nations at Matterley Basin near Winchester in England when New Zealand finished on the podium; a young Cody Cooper; Italy’s multi-time motocross world champion (and current world MX1 champion) Tony Cairoli, when he used to race for Yamaha, and Kiwi international enduro rider Chris Birch, at the ISDE in 2006.
See if you can identify and match-up the individuals pictured and visit us on Facebook to lodge your comments.
