TAKING IT TO TAHITI
It will be a three-pronged Kiwi assault coming up at the Pacific Cup motocross event in Tahiti.
BikesportNZ.com rider Scotty Canham, from Rotorua, will be joined by Oamaru’s Joel Meikle and Mangakino’s Maximus Purvis at the international event.
They fly out this week and racing is Saturday and Sunday.
Renowned motocross coach and top national-level competitor Peter Broxholme, of Tauranga, is the man behind the campaign
“Broxy asked me if I would like to do it late last week, so I thought ‘why not?’ It will be good to ride with other guys from different countries and make new friends. I am going over to enjoy myself and have some fun,” said Canham, who is supported also by Patterson-O’Connor Motorcycle in Rotorua.
“It’s a pretty last-minute, rushed trip, but, hey, how often does someone get offered a trip like that?”
Meikle says he knows it will be hot racing in Tahiti.
Meikle has been brushing up on his pronunciation of ”bonjour” in the French-speaking country, but the event is otherwise a mystery.
”I honestly have no idea of what to expect,” Meikle said.
”But it should be a really good experience and I’d like to do well.”
