KIWI SPANISH ARMADA
Auckland’s Connor London and Rangiora’s Jake Lewis have touched down in Spain.
“We timed our arrival into Spain perfectly, the weather is just starting to turn towards summer,” said London.
“The Spanish think it is cold but it is perfect. As soon as me, Jake and Rob Lewis arrived in Madrid we began to head towards Motorland Aragon for our first test on our European bikes for this season.
“I was on my CBR500 from last year and pretty much felt right at home as soon as I put the my leg over the bike. After Aragon we had one day’s break before we were back on track at Valencia and I must say what an amazing circuit.
“Being my first time at Valencia, I tried to put in decent lap times straight away, we had some really good and consistent times from the first session which I’m really happy with.
“On day two at Valencia I had a pretty fast crash but luckily the bike is not too bad and will live to see another day. I’m really looking forward to the European Junior Cup starting and am ready to come out of the box swinging.”
South Islander Lewis is also in preparation mode, last year’s EJC Cup winner getting himself ready to tackle the 600cc class this season.
“Well it has been a busy time for Connor and I. Flying out from Christchurch on March 4, having a 30-hour flight to Madrid and then being on track at Aragon on March 7 and 8 for the first test with my new team on the Agro On WIL Racedays CBR 600R Honda came around really quickly.
“We have just finished another two days testing at Valencia, so both Connor and I are well up and running for the 2014 season opener at Aragon!
“Now a couple weeks break from riding where we will go to our base for the year in Alicante and continue our training and preparation for this fantastic World Superbike season ahead with WIL Sport Racing.”
