LOOKING BACK IN TIME
We here at BikesportNZ.com take literally thousands of photos at the dozens of events we travel to, but, the shame is, most never see the light of day.
So we have decided to trawl through our archives and dig out some of those shots that either have never been seen before or simply that rate among our favourites and deserve a second viewing … we are calling it our “weekend wind-back”.
Our aim is not to embarrass anyone, but we are sure you’ll all appreciate seeing these old snaps.
Among the riders featured here include Pahiatua’s two-time former Grand National Cross-country Champion in the United States, Paul Whibley, when he raced for Suzuki in 2007; multi-time national superbike champion Andrew Stroud celebrating another massive win; British Grand Prix motocross star Tommy Searle when he was a fresh-faced rising star in 2006; New Zealand’s Katherine Prumm at the height of her world-conquering powers in 2007 (and an earlier action shot of her, taken in 2005); Motueka’s Josh Coppins at the British GP in 2007, the season he had been leading the world championships but was ultimately robbed by bad luck and injury and, finally, Italian legend Antonio Cairoli, at the Irish GP in 2007, celebrating his winning the world MX2 title for Yamaha with several races to spare.
See if you can identify and match-up the individuals pictured and visit us on Facebook to lodge your comments.
