LEARN FROM THE BEST
It seems Kiwi extreme enduro legend Chris Birch is a winner off the track as much as he is on it.
And if he’s not actually winning races himself, he’s training others to share the winning with him.
For the past 12 months Chris and his wife Monica have been working really hard to ensure that their rider coaching business is up to new safety regulation standards.
The Adventure Activities Regulations Act requires all adventure activities operators to undertake and pass an external safety audit and be listed on the WorkSafe register by November 1, 2014.
“We are really pleased to announce that we received our letter confirming that we have passed the safety audit are now on the national adventure activities register. We have taken these new regulations on board from the start and really stepped up our procedures and looking at how we make our business not only safer, but more efficient and overall a better time for our customers.
Meanwhile, Chris Birch reports in from his recent excursion into Malaysia and Panama.
“Despite nearly wilting in the near 40-degree heat, our second coaching trip to Malaysia went great. We did Adventure schools, extreme enduro schools and a beginners’ course as well as checking out the Singapore Formula One. We had a lot of media coverage of the schools so hopefully we can grow our schools in Asia.”
It was also successful for Birch in Panama.
He did four sold-out schools and competed in the Ocean-to-Ocean Enduro, a crazy race from the Caribbean Ocean to the Pacific through the jungle and mountains. Birch was the only rider to complete the course after nine and half hours of mud, swollen rivers and tricky navigation.
Of course he loved every minute of it, the sicko …
In more news, Birch also reports that one-on-one and private sessions are now available.
“We have lots of Wednesday and Thursday sessions in Auckland that we have opened up between now and January 2015,” said Birch.
“It’s a great chance to have some coaching heading into next season if you are competing in the two-man races or enduros, want a refresher on some skills you learnt in a group session, or grab a few mates and have a good morning or afternoon with Chris. You should email Monica (monica@chrisbirch.co.nz) to enquire about booking a session.”
