READY TO RACE AGAIN
Rotorua Kawasaki ace Scotty Canham is back.
“I am now back riding after having five months off with my collar bone surgery,” said the BikesportNZ.com rider this week.
“The specialist said it was never going to heal because of the size of the gap it had between the breaks, but now I have had it plated and am clear to ride.
“I have done a couple of club rounds so far and, while I was off the bike I kept working on my strength. I am now fully back into gym work and from next week will try and get some riding in after work as well as the weekends.
“Next time you see me I’ll be running my new number 11 on the bike as I feel I worked hard to get it even though I only did three rounds of the nationals due to the broken collar bone. I felt I did my best considering the pain and not being as fit as I would have liked to have been.
“I know if I was 100% I would have easily been inside the top 10 and would have done all four rounds
“My plan this year is to have heaps of fun be fully fit and have an injury-free season. My goal is to do really well at all the big events and be inside the top 10 for the nationals next year.
“For now I will keep doing club rounds at different clubs and just enjoy myself.”
