HAT-TRICK HEROES
Te Puke’s Jordan Milsom is one of a rare breed.
The 14-year-old Suzuki ace was in very elite company at the inaugural Secondary Schools Motocross Championships at Mercer on Sunday, but even more so because he was one of just five riders out of more than 140 entrants who proved to be unbeatable on the gnarly sand track.
To make his achievement even more remarkable, it was the Bel Ray Pro Rider Moto City Suzuki team star’s first time racing at Mercer.
“I didn’t know what to expect. This is my first time at this track and first time in the sand,” he said, after scoring hat-trick of wins in the 13-16 years’ 85-150cc class.
“It got pretty rough in the corners. But that was the best part because it made it more of a challenge.”
The other riders to finish the day unbeaten were Josiah Natzke (Te Kura High School, 14-15 years’ 250cc four-stroke class); Andre Whitehead (Te Puke High School, 16-18 years’ 250cc novice); Max Simpson (Waiuku College, 13-15 years 125cc novice); Jack Broughton (Te Kauwhata College, 85cc novice).
