TOWNLEY INJURED
We have just this afternoon received information that Ben Townley has crashed during practice at round two of the Australian Motocross Championships at Conabarabran, NSW.
We understand that the 2012 New Zealand MX1 champion and former MX2 world champion has dislocated his hip, possibly the same injury that struck the Kiwi hero down when he crashed at the Auckland round of the Australasian Supercross Championships about two years ago.
Townley had dominated the opening round of the series, winning both open class races, at Conondale, Queensland, a fortnight ago and he had been tipped to again sweep the points this weekend.
This weekend’s racing was to be his final appearance in the Australian championships before moving to the USA to race for Chad Reed’s Two Two Motorsports team in the AMA Motocross Outdoors.
