CANADIAN SEASON KICKS OFF
The past weekend was the first taste of racing in Canada this season for flying Kiwis Mason Phillips and Kieran Leigh.
Racing for the Kini Red Bull KTM Race Team at round one of the Canadian national championships, at Kamloops, in British Columbia, the two Kiwi riders were right in the thick of the action.
Waikato’s Leigh qualified 15th in a field of 69 in the MX2 class, then twice finished 10th, good enough for 9th overall on the day.
Mount Maunganui’s Phillips was racing in the MX1 class and qualified 15th, before going on to finish 11th and 30th for 14th overall, a problem with his rear suspension ruining his prospects in moto two.
