Australian Honda rider Jett Lawrence has now made it seven round wins in a row in the motocross nationals in the United States after dominating at Millville at the weekend.
The 2025 Pro Motocross Championship entered the second half of its summer stretch with a visit to Minnesota’s Spring Creek MX Park.
A perfect day in Millville provided the stage for the Spring Creek National, where Jett Lawrence (pictured above, on Honda No.18) edged out elder brother Hunter Lawrence via a second moto tiebreaker to claim his seventh consecutive overall win.
In the 250 class, Haiden Deegan extended his points lead with another overall victory, but the spotlight belonged to Jeremy Martin, who capped off his professional career with an emotional final moto win at his home track.
The first 450cc class race got underway with the Australian duo of Jett and Hunter Lawrence leading the field. However, an early mistake from Jett saw him lose traction and remount back in 15th place.
With Jett scrambling to recover, Hunter took control of the race, pulling ahead of Aaron Plessinger, while Jorge Prado and Eli Tomac fought over third. Tomac soon moved past both Prado and Plessinger into second, just as Jett started picking riders off.
Jett’s charge was relentless. Within 10 minutes, he was in the top 10, and shortly after, he made a brilliant pass on Plessinger and team-mate Chase Sexton in a single turn to move into third. He then made quick work of Tomac to take over second place.
With Hunter still holding a 10-second advantage, the younger Lawrence tried to close the gap, but Hunter maintained control and crossed the line 15.2 seconds ahead of his brother, collecting his first moto win of the season. Sexton finished a distant third, followed by RJ Hampshire and Justin Cooper.
The second moto mirrored the first, with Jett grabbing the holeshot ahead of Hunter. Coty Schock briefly held third before Sexton moved past. As the Lawrence brothers pulled away from the field, it became clear it would be a head-to-head shootout.
Jett laid down fast laps despite the worsening track conditions and slowly built a lead over Hunter, eventually finishing nearly nine seconds ahead. Sexton crossed the line in third, almost 50 seconds behind.
With matching 1-2 and 2-1 finishes, the overall win went to Jett Lawrence by virtue of the second moto tiebreaker. It marked his 22nd career win in the 450 class, tying him with Rick Johnson for fifth all-time, and preserved his staggering 95% win rate.
Hunter’s runner-up finish was his fourth straight, while Sexton landed on the podium for the first time this season in third.
Jett acknowledged the intensity of their sibling rivalry, explaining, “Hunter was riding really well and wouldn’t let it go. My bike was better, but I had to be patient on the downhills. Hunter kept me honest, but we needed to keep the win streak going, and I had to dig deep today to do that.”
Hunter admitted, “I just need to be faster. If I was faster, I would have passed. The kid is good. I appreciate how much work the team continues to put into the bike, and it was great today. We’ll keep working.”
Sexton, still regaining form after an injury layoff, said, “I felt like my opening laps were better today, but I lost a lot of time on the downhills. We’re pretty good everywhere else but just need to keep working. Those guys are riding really good right now.”
Jett now holds a 51-point lead in the standings over Hunter, while Cooper, despite a rough weekend with 10th overall, moves into third, 90 points off the lead and now atop the SMX World Championship standings, surpassing injured team-mate Cooper Webb.
