Classic bikes and planes are set to thrill crowds at Pukekohe on February 5-6.

Classic Motorcycle enthusiasts at Pukekohe on February 6 will get the chance to see and hear the sounds of 26 litres of V12 Rolls Royce Merlin powering Doug Brooker’s Mk IX Spitfire and 27 litre of V12 Allison V-1710 powering Frank Parker’s P40E Kittyhawk during lunchtime on Sunday only for the two day meeting.

A 15-minute aerobatic display is planned for two of the most iconic planes of the Second World War, weather and planes permitting.

The 32nd running of this event by the NZCMRR Inc. continues to feature over 300 bikes from the 1920’s to 1975 of British, European and American origin, with a huge programme of over 50 races and parades and is recognized as the finest gathering of Classic Racing Motorcycles in the Southern Hemisphere.

New Zealand’s own Grand Prix star Ginger Molloy will be racing his 250cc Bultaco GP bike that he recently used to win the Australian Historic 250cc Championship at Phillip Island in September, 2010.

A special display is planned to celebrate 100 years of the famous Italian Benelli brand and the 1920’s American icon, Henderson. The Henderson was famous for its massive four cylinder engine and it is planned to include a display of other rare American heavyweight model of the pre-war period.

Steve Wynn, the famous English Ducati agent, who now lives in New Zealand, has arranged to demonstrate his 1954 ex-factory MV-Agusta 500cc 4 cylinder GP racer.

This meeting has gained an international reputation for its combination of highly competitive racing combined with a “live museum” atmosphere with many of the bikes only seen in public for this event.

Entry to the pits is free. Car parking is free. Entry is only $30 for a full weekend pass.
