This is a motocross highlights video of the day American hero Eli Tomac and Italian legend Antonio Cairoli squared off in the United States back in 2016.
This race was the 2016 MXGP of the USA, raced at Glen Helen Raceway, San Bernadino.
This was the first time in quite a while that a motocross giant from the USA and a motocross giant from Europe raced head-to-head.
Tomac had an off year as he only won one supercross race and two Pro Motocross races in 2016 and he was recovering from double shoulder surgery.
Cairoli (now retired from full-time racing) had an off year as well in 2016 as he was battling injuries early on, losing the 2016 MXGP World Championship.
However, both riders showed up looking like their old selves and gave us a battle to remember.
Other riders on the day included Tim Gajser, Romain Febvre, Gautier Paulin and many other great MXGP riders.
Meanwhile, the 2023 edition of the Pro Motocross Championship is now observing its final break in action for the current season and the riders return for a three-round stretch run, starting with round nine this weekend (August 12, Monday NZ time).
The iconic rolling plains of Central New York’s Unadilla MX, in New Berlin, will welcome riders at the Honda Unadilla National for round nine of the summer campaign.
