Multi-time MotoGP world champion Marc Márquez is set to miss the next round, the Grand Prix of Argentina, round three of the world series.
The Repsol Honda Team rider has already shown very favourable improvements with his diplopia (double vision) after visiting the hospital clinic and receiving a medical examination.
Márquez visited his ophthalmologist, Dr. Sánchez Dalmau, in Barcelona this week, where he underwent his second medical check-up after the crash in warm-up for the Indonesian GP just over a week ago.
In this new examination, it was confirmed that Márquez’s diplopia showed a notable improvement and reaffirms that the progression of his vision is very favourable.
As happened with the last episode of diplopia, Márquez will continue to carry out a conservative treatment regime with regular check-ups.
The Repsol Honda Team rider will not take part in the third round of 21 in the 2022 MotoGP World Championship, set for this weekend in Argentina, as he continues his recovery.
Dr Dalmau, said: “The second neuro-ophthalmological evaluation carried out on Marc Márquez this past Monday has shown a very favourable evolution in the paralysis of the fourth right nerve affected by the fall that occurred at the Indonesian Grand Prix.
“Recovery is not yet complete, and Marc Márquez must follow the established therapeutic regime with conservative treatment.”
Márquez had looked to be invincible as record after record tumbled to him in recent years.
From being the youngest rider to win a MotoGP title at just over 20 years of age, he has the most pole positions and has won the most races in a single season, with 13 victories from 18 starts in 2014.
He stands behind only Giacomo Agostini and Valentino Rossi in terms of winning top‑class titles.
