American Kevin Windham, who finished second overall in this year’s AMA world supercross championship, has confirmed that he will extend his stay in Australia so he can compete in round three of the Monster Energy Australasian Super X Championships in Launceston this Saturday night.

Geico Powersports Honda’s Windham was only scheduled to compete in round two in Canberra last weekend but after a perfect performance, where he won all three motos in the Triple Challenge final and some time enjoying Australia, he has decided to contest another round.

“I had so much fun racing last weekend and the competition and tracks over here are great. My wife and I are really enjoying the country and the people so the decision to stay on and compete in another round was an easy one.

“I am looking forward to the Launceston race and I am hoping for another top result,” said Windham.

Windham will line up against a number of fellow US riders on Saturday night at Aurora Stadium including championship leader, Josh Hansen, riding for Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki team, Muscle Milk/Toyota/JGRMX Yamaha’s Justin Brayton and Jagermeister KTM’s Mike Alessi.

Also competing will be all of Australia’s best including CDR Rockstar Yamaha’s Jay Marmont, Rockstar Motul Suzuki twins Matt and Jake Moss, Cougar Bourbon Thor Honda’s Dan Reardon and young gun JDR Motorex KTM’s Tye Simmonds.

Riders in the Open class will compete in the Quad Challenge final with four, six lap races and the Lites class will compete in a Double Header final with two, eight lap races. The full US-sized supercross track will be designed and built by the internationally renowned Jason Baker.
