SIX DAYS OF HELL
The International Six Days Enduro in Mexico is about to kick off and you can lend your support to the Kiwi team.
The Wellard Yamaha ISDE site is now live at www.wellardgroup.com.au and information will be posted, including pictures and blogs, from the campaign from Monday.
Log in and go to the side bar “Our Events” and click on the ISDE 2010 icon to see how the team is going in Mexico or perhaps send them a message of support.
Meanwhile, we have some breaking news — Staff at this site learned only late today of a huge set-back for the team.
It has been a devastating blow for the Wellard Yamaha NZ ISDE Team when rider Rory Mead informed management he was withdrawing from the Six Days event citing an injury he was carrying from a recent crash whilst racing motocross.
Rory explained he tweaked his knee a few weeks ago but thought it would be ok. The injury seems to be nerve related and whilst practicing on the test track yesterday has got to a point where he decided not to risk injuring it any further.
As reserve rider Karl Power had already taken the place of Adam Reeves who suffered a debilitating hand injury whilst practicing tyre changing the day before leaving for Mexico. Things were looking pretty bad for the Team. With only a couple of days until the start of the event some urgent communication with New Zealand has located a replacement who is winging his way to Mexico as you read this.
Chris Power, Karl’s cousin who has regularly competed in Australia and NZ in the past few years was eager to come and join the team in Morelia. Considering administration registration and sign in has already been done the team will need to do some fast talking to pull it off. So keep logging on to see how the situation develops.
