After a huge six-week mid-season break, the racing is back into full swing this weekend at round six of the Australian MX Nationals in Gympie, Queensland.
New Zealanders will be in action at the Queensland track this weekend too, with Mangakino’s Maximus Purvis lining up in the MX Development (Under-19) class and Rotorua’s Joshua Bourke-Palmer giving it a crack in the 125 Gold Cup class.
This weekend is the second of three rounds for the 125 Gold Cup competition.
In the MX1 class, Luke Clout will carry the red leader’s number plate aboard his CDR Yamaha Monster Energy bike for the first time in his career.
Clout is coming off a strong mid-season break and feeling a new-found confidence heading into the remainder of the season.
The MX2 class will see the ever-consistent and 2017 MX2 champion Wilson Todd head into round six with the red plate aboard his factory DPH Husqvarna. He is pictured above during his NZ nationals campaign earlier this year.
After competing in the AMA Pro Motocross in his mid-season break and walking away with a top 10 finish last weekend, Todd is sure to bring the speed and lessons he has learned in the USA back home with him.
Regan Duffy has maintained the red plate for majority of the first half of the season in the MX Development (Under-19) class and, after coming off a huge win at the Manjimup 15,000 event and being the youngest competitor to ever win the historic event, his confidence will be very high heading into the remainder of the season.
