WARD GOES HUSKY
Young Australian Caleb Ward will be the new kid on the block in the 2017 MX2 motocross world championships.
From Ravenshoe in North Queensland, Ward will arrive in Europe and will be part of the renewed 8 Biano Racing Husqvarna team.
Not yet in his twenties, but already with international experience, having raced with success in New Zealand – he was born on March 20, 1997.
He comes off a season of highs in Australia where he finished runner-up in the MX2 national championships.
He won four of the 10 rounds and was on the podium eight times, ending the championship series just 13 points behind Jed Beaton (Yamaha).
Ward will now race a Husqvarna FC250 in Europe.
“With the arrival of Caleb Ward we have completed the team for the new season,” said team principal Niki Rossotto.
“Ward is a new name for the panorama of the FIM motocross world championship, but, of course, the mx2 will enrich a new and young talent. We are very happy to have reached an agreement with the Australian, and hope that we can walk in the footsteps of his fellow countrymen before him in the past in the world championship of motocross. ”
Ward was naturally thrilled with what he has on his horizon.
“I’m super excited to become part of the team of 8 Racing for the 2017 season,” he said.
“To get to compete in the world championship of motocross has been for me a goal and a dream at the same time and now I’m really excited to have this opportunity.
“I can’t wait to arrive in Europe and to test the new bike. For a long time I competed with KTM bikes, which are very similar and therefore the switch to ride a Husqvarna should be pretty easy for me.
“I am also anxious to compete for the first time on all paths, new for me, and with new opponents. I think it will be a great experience from which I can learn a lot. I can’t wait that the start of the season!”
