BUGDEN IN HOT FORM
Five-time former New Zealand superbike champion Robbie Bugden is on fire across the Tasman.
The SA Kawasaki BCperformance’s rider won both the Australasian Superbike Championship and Australian FX-Superbike Championship rounds at Queensland Raceway over the weekend to extend his series leads.
The Brisbane rider swept all three Superbike races on Sunday at the 3.12-kilometre Queensland circuit, marking a third-consecutive round victory in a row. He won round five ahead of Beau Beaton (Racer’s Edge Performance/Craig McMartin Racing Ducati) and Michael Blair (IPONE Yamaha).
Saturday’s event was also won by Bugden after sharing the race wins with Blair, who won the opening affair. From then on it was Bugden who went on to win races two and three, taking the overall ahead of Blair and Beaton. The entire field competes on the Dunlop control tyres.
In Supersport, Callum Spriggs rode his Yamaha to victory ahead of points leader Kyle Buckley (SA Kawasaki BCperformance) and Sam Muldoon (Kawasaki). Race three was won by Mitch Levy (Yamaha), however he was fourth overall after a technical fault forced him out of the opener.
The final of the categories supplied by Dunlop, in the Pro-Twins and Nakedbikes it was Beaton who claimed the round victory, while in Formula Oz Simon Galloway (Yamaha) was victorious again on his R1.
Round six of the 2016 Australasian Superbike Championship and Australian FX-Superbike Championship will take place at Sydney Motorsport Park in New South Wales on 16-17 December.
