READY TO ROAR
Echo Valley in Toowoomba is preparing to roar back to life when the ninth round of 10 in the 2015 Australian MX Nationals is held at the iconic motocross venue next Sunday, August 23.
With all championships now reaching the business end of the season, Toowoomba is set to dish out the goods – and with thousands set to flock to the amphitheatre style venue, fans will witness Australasia’s top motocross athletes banging bars once again.
MX Nationals Series Promoter Kevin Williams (pictured above) said he is pleased to have Echo Valley back on the series calendar for 2015, and is excited to be holding round nine of the championship at yet another historic motocross venue.
“It’s very exciting to be heading back to Toowoomba for round nine – the town and club always make the MX Nationals feel very welcome, and it’s somewhere we thoroughly enjoying visiting,” he said.
“Many of the legends of our sport have raced at Echo Valley over the years, including some who are now team managers at the MX Nationals, so to be continuing to return to such an iconic venue to this day is very special.”
New Zealand riders Cody Cooper, Ben Townley and Hamish Harwood will be racing this event and using the weekend as part of their build-up to the Motocross of Nations in France next month. Cooper and Townley are two-thirds of Team New Zealand, with British-based Kayne Lamont the third team rider, while Harwood is one of the non-travelling reserves for the MXoN.
“The way the Echo Valley circuit is laid out, it really embodies that of a traditional motocross track, and will produce plenty of exciting racing come August 23,” Williams continued.
To top off the action packed racing, Williams also shared, that spectator viewing at the Toowoomba venue, is some of the best on the MX Nationals calendar.
“Echo Valley without a doubt is one of our fan’s favourite tracks. From nearly anywhere at the venue you can see every bit of the racing,” he said.
“With the track it’s self being quite unique, spectators will be able to get up close and personal, to see every pass, turn, and start, from any of the viewing points available at the circuit.
“With only two rounds of the series remaining, and with all of our championships starting to really tighten up, spectators from Toowoomba and surrounding areas will be in for a treat in just over a week, that’s for sure.”
