BIDDLE STRENGTHENS GRIP
New Zealand’s Avalon Biddle has further cemented her position at the top of the Women’s European cup after another stunning performance at Misano, in Italy, over the weekend.
“I have another trophy for first place in the Women’s European Cup here in Misano and am now leading the championship by 30 points,” said the rider from Orewa.
“I also took one championship point in the (parallel) European Junior Cup today by finishing in 15th place overall.
“I’m pretty happy with the race, got off to a really good start and tagged on to some fast guys, then had a brief tussle with two other riders on the final laps.
“Thanks to Ozzy for keeping me and the bike going this weekend, and to Al, Lele and Bruce for the extra support.
“Also massive thank you to my sponsors WIL Sport, CIG, Blue Wing Honda, NGK spark plugs Australia, Pole Position Travel, Auckland Motorcycle Club, Backflips Clothing, Formula Fit, Deepweb web design, Spark my Potential supporters, Rob, Jake and Racesupplies NZ.
“The next round in Jerez is in September, so I will be using the break to do all I can to finish the year off even stronger.”
Biddle is also 21st overall in the European Junior Cup, where she is scored against the elite men of Europe.
Female riders are eligible to score points in both EJC and the Women’s Cup, with the highest point scoring female being appointed as the 2015 FIM Europe Women’s European Cup winner … and Biddle is in the driving seat to achieve that.
The prize for the overall winner is a new Honda CBR 600 RR, prepared to European Superstock 600 specification.
The Women’s European Cup is open to female racers aged between 14 and 23 years. The upper age limit for the PATA European Junior Cup male riders is now set at 21 years. This in line with the recent changes made to age limits for the FIM Europe Superstock 600 European Championship and FIM Superstock 1000 Cup.
