The Kid, a story with a smile and maybe also a tear … in the latest issue of The Art of Motocross.
“After my conversation with all those in this story, I instinctively think about the grand master of silent movies himself: Charlie Chaplin, an icon from the early years of the film industry and still an example for many,” said The Art of Motocross journalist/photographer Stefan Geukens.
For young readers of “The Art of Motocross”, this is perhaps a bit too long ago but still the movie “The Kid” will sound familiar to a lot of readers. The film dates from 1921 and has a cult status in the world of film.
The funny Chaplin and the young actor Jacky Coogan, who plays “The Kid”, are unforgettable. Tragedy and comedy alternate and that is actually still the reality in daily life. With “a smile and maybe also a tear”, the start of moving black/white images could not better summarize all I heard in lively stories today.
