OLD TIMES RESURRECTED
A new six-round Vintage Motocross Series is warming up and ready to run here in New Zealand.
The series will kick off at Whakatane on October 6, with it set to wrap up at Taupo on April 26 next year.
Expect to be enthralled by the old ‘two-bangers’, the smell of pre-mix and the rattle and bark of the two-strokes and be in awe of the old retro riding gear.
The series will feature three new classes – pre-86 open Enduro, pre-86 open four-stroke and a pre-91 open class, to bring in the next era of bikes and to bring more people together.
All the old classes remain, except there is no longer any recreational class or Evo Lites class either.
The Mr VMX classes have also been dropped.
So for this season, we have new management – eNZed VMX, new classes, new venue – South Auckland, new people plus all the old names from previous seasons gone by such as Danny Willemsen, Bill Doe, Darryl August, Kevin Jury, Mark Fergusson, Nick Prescott, Stephen Shirriffs, Jason Moorefield and Bryan Stent, just to name a few.
So, with the first round just weeks away, riders will need to get their entries in to www.vmx.co.nz and get their bikes all ready.
Entries will be taken on the day but a late fee will apply.
