CENTRAL ENDURO FINALE
The Yamaha Central Enduro Series has featured some close racing and it is set to wrap up with an exciting final round in the Wellington area on Sunday, September 8.
The riding will start at the Moonshine Motocross track, the same venue as was used for the national round held there in April.
Organisers Justin Stevenson and Murray Dick, along with a huge crew of helpers, have spent the past few months to produce an enduro that’s challenging but rideable, with some of the afternoon sections making use of areas used in the national round but with new and varied tracks.
The Bush Track and The Blowfly, to name a few of the tracks, have suffered recent storm damage and logging has changed the nature of this area.
The morning sections will give the riders tracks that haven’t been used in recent times, with names such as The Waka, Neils Track, Pram Track, Whakatiki Saddle.
With separate tracks catering for the experts only, this should give them a good build-up for the final round of the nationals in Tokoroa on September 21.
The leading riders in the expert class overall are close and racing will be intense with riders such as Jason Davis ahead but closely followed by Daniel Christie, Jacob Hislop and Hugh Lintott (pictured here).
In the intermediate overall, Mike Welsby is leading the charge.
Charlie Richardson and Josh Hunger are battling it out for the junior honours overall, so there’s still plenty to aim for.
Prize giving is to be held at the Judgeford Golf Course after the event.
