Italian defending world MX1 champion Antonio Cairoli notched up career GP win No.50 overnight as he romped to victory at the Czech GP at Loket, the 12th round of 16 in the championship.

The Red Bull KTM rider recorded a stunning 1-1 result and he now enjoys a 30-point gap on Belgian Suzuki rival Clement Desalle in the championship standings.

French former MX2 world champion Christophe Pourcel (Kawasaki) finished second with 2-3 scores and the third placed rider was Desalle, with 4-2 results.

In the MX2 class it was Cairoi’s KTM factory team-mate Jeffrey Herlings who pulled of the double, with his 1-1 result showing he has recovered from his terrible car accident ordeal in Russia. Second overall was British hero Tommy Searle with 2-3 results, while American Zach Osborne was third with a 4-4 score-line.

British rider Jake Nicholls came incredibly close to scoring his first ever podium finish with 3-5 results – he finished in equal points to Osborne –  but lost out on the count-back rule.

Belgian Jeremy Van Horebeek must be ruing his first moto DNF as his bike expired. Van Horebeek held second in the moto and ended up finishing second in the second moto. Had he been able to finish that moto he would have closed up on Searle’s second place in the MX2 points.

Herlings, like Cairoli, has made a solid run towards this year’s World Championship and is now 57 points ahead of Searle in the championship points table.
