The 2021 MOTUL FIM World Superbike Championships (WSBK) season is over, but already the training preparations are well underway for 2022.
And perhaps not in the way you’d think …
Multi-time former WSBK world champion Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) has again swapped racing surface from tarmac to dirt as he took to riding motocross at Desert Martin, in his native Northern Ireland.
Sporting his traditional #65, the most successful WSBK rider of all time – currently on six titles – got some air as he took off around the circuit and quickly showed he’s also a pretty good motocross racer.
If versatility can be turned into world championship titles, then you’d have to bet on Rea to be at the forefront again in WSBK in 2022, especially if the track gets slippery.
