Top Grand Prix racers Joan Mir and Alex Rins tell us what does what in the Team Suzuki Ecstar factory team tool chest.
Spanish riders Mir (currently third in the 2021 standings) and Rins (ranked 13th) take a lesson in some of the everyday specialist equipment their technicians use on their GSX-RR machinery in this new fun clip from the team.
Meanwhile, the MotoGP World Championship headed for the second “flyaway” event (outside Europe) of the year as the championship returned to the United States of America for round 15 of 18 at the weekend, the riders excited to see what will happen in Austin and what will excite the many MotoGP fans in the United States.
First added to the MotoGP calendar in 2013, the unique Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, will return to hosting the Grand Prix of the Americas after a hiatus in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Given the extremely high case numbers of Covid-19 in Texas, and the scarcity of ICU beds, the sport’s controlling body has requested everyone attending the race remain in their bubbles – staying inside their hotels, not go into town, not visit bars and restaurants – as much as possible.
Normally, the Austin round of MotoGP is a reason to party. That will not be the case this year.
But staying inside will be made easier by the weather – very heavy rain is expected throughout the weekend, especially on Friday and Saturday.
Leaving the hotel to wander the streets of downtown Austin is a much less attractive opposition in the pouring rain.
