There was a shake-up in the points at round six of the national motocross championships series in the United States at the weekend, but it is still two European riders who lead the way in this domestic competition.
GasGas factory rider Justin Barcia finished 1-2 for the overall victory at round six of the AMA Nationals at Spring Creek, in Millville, Minnesota.
The series leader’s red plate holder, flying Frenchman Dylan Ferrandis, struggled at the weekend, while Germany’s Ken Roczen, the other championship contender, DNFed the opening moto after a massive first turn crash.
Second overall was Colorado’s Eli Tomac with 3-4 results and third was Ferrandis with 2-5 scores. Roczen came back to win the final moto, but his DNF-1 result saw him finish in 8th overall and he is now 30 points off the points championship lead enjoyed by Ferrandis.
