With COVID-19 lock-down conditions being slowly eased in New Zealand, it’s time to look ahead to what might be coming up on the motorcycling horizon.
The 2020 New Zealand Superbike Championships had to be wrapped up early as the nation went into lock-down in late March, just a few days before the fourth round of five was set to hit the track at Manfeild.
After some debate, it was decided a two weeks later to “declare” the championship done at that stage and so, even with nine six races per class still on the calendar, it was all over.
It all went eerily quiet on the road-racing front.
It was 10 weeks ago that the Level Four lock-down was imposed and, as can be imagined, there are now quite a few racers keen to break out and get back into some form of racing again.
The traditional end-of-the-year Suzuki Series will possibly be the next big thing on the minds of many riders, the three-round series that each December serves also as a warm-up for the following year’s nationals.
Planning is well underway for the 2020 edition of the immensely-popular Suzuki Series and if you check back with BikesportNZ.com during the week, we should be able to bring you news about the latest developments.
The 2020 Suzuki Series will kick off at Taupo on December 5, then heads to Manfeild a week later, on December 12, and finally wraps up on the public streets of Wanganui’s Cemetery Circuit on Boxing Day.
Just to get you in the mood, today we are offering up a few photos from the BikesportNZ.com archives, shots from previous Cemetery Circuit events.
