THE GAP STAYS THE SAME
A 2-1 beats a 1-2, but only in terms of bragging rights and the gap at the top of the 450cc class remains the same after the ninth round of 12 in the United States Motocross Championships at Washougal MX Park at the weekend.
Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac captured his second overall win in the past three rounds by getting the best of the championship leader, Suzuki’s Ken Roczen, in the second race of the day at Washougal, in Washington State.
Roczen had won the first race, with Tomac settling for second and so they shared points for the day and so German former world champion Roczen still leads Colorado native Tomac by 55 points at the top of the standings.
French former world champion Marvin Musquin bagged two third placings to take third overall for the day and he is also third in the championship rankings, albeit 96 points behind Tomac.
In the 250 class, Yamaha’s Alex Martin used his first moto win of the season to vault him to his second overall round victory.
Martin finished 2-1 to win the day, while Kawasaki’s Austin Forkner finished 10-1 to take second overall and Yamaha’s Cooper Webb, the championship leader, finished 3-6.
