WAIROA RIDERS LEAD THE WAY
Wairoa riders led the way at the inaugural Trent Haywood Memorial Motocross near Te Puke on Friday.
The Napier Boys’ High School team was thankful to have two boarding pupils from Wairoa, Keegan Taylor and Keith Swann, to bolster their efforts and this proved crucial with their dominance in the intermediate 13-16 years’ class allowing the Napier school to eventually win the competition outright.
Individually, Keegan Taylor won the class and Keith Swann finished runner-up.
Meanwhile, Wairoa College officially had just two designated riders, less than the number required to register as a team, and therefore did not qualify for school team points, although the Wairoa pair of Hugh Taylor and Liam Swann did acquit themselves well during the intense day of racing.
Individually, Hugh Taylor finished eighth and Liam Swann 14th overall in the 85cc/150cc novice class.
