We here at BikesportNZ.com take literally thousands of photos at the dozens of events we travel to, but, the shame is, most never see the light of day.

So we have decided to trawl through our archives and dig out some of those shots that either have never been seen before or simply that rate among our favourites and deserve a second viewing … we are calling it our “weekend wind-back”. 

Our aim is not to embarrass anyone and we won’t always feature crash shots, although they often are the most spectacular.

Among the riders featured here include cross-country ace Kevin Hermansen during a national championship event in Hawke’s Bay; superbike legend Andrew Stroud with his wife Karyn; a very young Josiah Natzke, with his parents, in 2009; Oamaru’s Joel Meikle pictured six years ago getting it all wrong at Taupo; current national MX2 motocross champion Kayne Lamont when he was a junior, pictured here in 2008; Superbike hero Craig Shirriffs contemplates what went wrong at Manfeild and there’s a 2007 photo of Avalon Biddle at Levels Raceway.
