POINTS ON THE BOARD
Kiwi Kayne Lamont is starting to make his mark in Europe.
The 17-year-old Mangakino rider rejoiced in scoring his first championship points at the weekend, with a fantastic performance at round five of the EMX125 championships in Sweden.
The 2010 double New Zealand junior motocross champion finished 11th and 15th, placing him 14th overall for the Swedish GP.
This gave him 16 well-earned points. Despite contesting just three of the five rounds thus far, this was enough to take him from nowhere to 27th in the championship standings.
“I crashed in my second race but picked myself up and was thrilled to get back into the points after that,” he said.
Championship leader Jordi Tixier (France, KTM) won both races in Sweden.
Danish rider Stefan Olsen (Suzuki) scored his first podium of the season after he twice finished third.
Italian Samuele Bernardini (KTM) also mounted the podium for the first time this season after he finished 2-6 in the two races.
Bernadini is now third in the championship behind French rider Yohan Lafont (Yamaha), who finished fifth overall in Sweden.
