Ben Townley’s and Josh Coppins’ riding gear is up for auction.
A fundraising auction has been set-up to help raise money to get a Kiwi team to this year’s MX des Nations in Italy on October 3-4. With New Zealand possibly in the strongest position ever to field a team capable of taking out the top spot of the podium in what is often referred to as the ‘Olympics of motorcycling’, it’s imperative that we help raise funds to get a team with the best support possible to the 2009 event.
With two of New Zealand’s top talent already getting behind the fund raising initiative, Josh Coppins and Ben Townley have both supplied a set of riding gear to be auctioned to the highest bidder, with all proceeds going towards the campaign.
If you’ve got a computer and a TradeMe account, go online now and search for ‘Josh Coppins Riding Gear’ and the first of the auctions will pop up. Ben’s will follow shortly. The auctions only last for 10 days, so if you’re keen to own a piece of motocross history, make sure you get in quick and start bidding. The gear is in excellent condition and will be couriered direct to the winner of the auction.
With a whole host of top class riders for MNZ to choose from for the Kiwi team including Josh and Ben as well as riders such as Cody Cooper, Luke Burkhart, Hamish Dobbyn, Damien King and not forgetting Daryl Hurley, this could well be the year that New Zealand can knock the Americans off the top step and put Kiwi motocross even more firmly on the world map.
But, unlike America, our governing body doesn’t have limitless funds to send a team overseas to represent the country, and while countries like the USA have multi-million dollar budgets, MNZ are looking at around $20,000 for the team to compete in Italy. This covers entry costs, bike hire, accommodation as well as travel, and is basically doing the event on a shoestring budget.
So get behind the team and the country today and bid on the auction. Alternatively, if you or your club have any other ideas of how to raise funds for the team or simply would like to make a donation, contact Motorcycling New Zealand via the website at www.mnz.co.nz
